Subtle Energy

  Therapy

Healing Hands 003b

A more comprehensive explanation of energy healing is that of a process whereby the centring of the healer becomes the core to physical, mental and emotional changes within the patient. There is no requirement for any belief system on the part of the patient. The process simply requires them to relax and accept the flow of energies through the therapist, observing any changes they may feel during their therapy session.

The passing of these subtle energies, as yet undefined, by the therapist to the patient is through the ability of focussed intent. The aim of this is to bring about a balance within the energy systems of the body whereby the result can be experienced mentally, physically and emotionally. Subtle Energy Therapy aims to treat the patient, not the illness – to bring them back from pain, despair and dis-ease into a state where they can more fully live with their present health limitations. Energy Therapy is not curing, although sometimes, because we do not know the mysteries of all the body’s systems, cures do occur. It does, however, encourage the patient’s own healing system to return to that state of homeostasis (balance) where beneficial changes within their mental, physical and emotional dimensions begin to take place.

Energy healing is gentle, relaxing and a very pleasant experience for the patient. It can help reduce pain, accelerate wound recovery and lighten the mind. Watch this video on the American Energy Therapy known as 'Healing Touch'.

All therapists accept that the healing energies come from a central source, be that God, Cosmic Intelligence, Universal Life Force, etc and is channeled through the therapist by their focusing on purposeful intent and human empathy.

Healing is a natural energy therapy. It complements conventional medicine by treating the whole person - mind, body and spirit. Therapists act as a conduit for healing energy, often described as 'Love and Light' which relaxes the body, releases tensions and stimulates self-healing. The benefits of subtle energy therapy can be felt on many levels, not just the physical, and the effects can be profound.

Energy healing is about treating the whole person. It energises body, mind and spirit and so its effects can be felt on many levels, not just the physical.

It is not Faith Healing, because the recipient has no need to believe in a Deity or a religion. Faith by the patient is not required and energy therapy can help people regardless of their religious beliefs.

The healing energy is all around us. In essence it is 'Universal' - part of nature itself. It is available for everyone to use for the greatest good. Therapists learn to use their ability to tap into this natural energy and pass it on.

All Energy Therapists who belong to the Universal Healing Group have to complete an intensive, comprehensive and recognised programme of training, practise and development over a period of two years. All therapists are trained up to UK Nationally recognised standards and are insured for the protection of the public. Once qualified, they are required to prepare regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) plans on an on-going basis.

Members of the Universal Healing Group are bound by a Code of Practice which sets standards for all practising therapists and which acts as a reference on those standards for the public good.

Is There Scientific Evidence?

The prime purpose of the Confederation of Healing Organisations (CHO), of which we are a Member, is to fund research into the phenomenon of healing.

At present the CHO is part funding a randomised, controlled trial by the University of Leeds, Clinical Trials Research Unit, comparing adjunct ‘energy healing’ with ‘usual care’ in neonates (severely ill premature babies).

A second, fully funded review is currently being undertaken by the University of Northampton, School of Social Sciences, into a Meta-analysis of 338 published empirical studies on Healing Intention.

Both projects are showing encouraging results and these will be made public once they have been fully peer reviewed.

Previously, the accumulation of research into energy therapy was authored by Dr Daniel J. Benor, a medical doctor and psychiatrist who is internationally recognized as an authority on the scientific study of energy therapy. In his book, Healing Research - Volume 1, he details numerous studies of scientific research into healing on enzymes, plants, animals and humans.

With today’s more advanced scientific equipment, specific research into the beneficial ‘purposeful intent’ effect between the therapist and the participant is becoming recognised as a measurable, valid fact.
